Sweetscented Joe-Pye (or possibly Joe-Pie) weed is native to North America. They prefer
moist soil.
Identification: Plants are 5-8′ (1.5-2.4 m) tall and 2-4′ (60-121 cm) wide. Stems are rigid, round, and purple. Leaves up to 12″ (30 cm) long and 3½″ (9 cm) wide occur in whorls of 4-5 around the stem. The leaves are finely toothed. Dense flower clusters are dull pink or mauve in color. They appear from July to August.
