This cultivated hosta is a variegated version of Hosta sieboldiana ‘Elegans’. It is
not found in the wild.
Identification: ‘Big Daddy’ hostas reach 2′ (60 cm) in height
and 3′ (91 cm) around, larger than most hostas. Like all hostas, they favor shady areas. Leaves are up to 11″ (27 cm) long and
9″ (22 cm) wide. This cultivated variety has
bluish leaves with a hazy white coating. Flowers are lilac-tinted white, appearing in attractive
spikes above the foliage from July to August.
