About plant names...

These lupines have learned to get by with less water than most, and are natives of the extreme southwestern United States.

Identification: Plants are 8-39″ (20-100 cm) high. Leaves are palmlike, rosettes of 7-9 leaflets. Each leaflet is ¾-2″ (2-6 cm) × ¼-¾″ (7-20 mm). Flowers are spikes 3½-6″ (9-15 cm) high. Fruits resemble pea pods, 1¼-1¾″ (3.5-5 cm) long × ¼-⅜″ (8-10 mm), with 6-9 seeds per pod.
