About plant names...

Southern beeblossom prefers open woods, sandy fields, roadsides, and dunes.

Plants: Plants are up to 5' (1.5 m) in height. Stems are hairly, and widely branched.

Leaves: There is a basal rosette of leaves. Stem leaves are Alternate, lanceolate, narrow and short.

Flowers: White or pink, in small spikes on the ends of thin stems. Each flower has four petals and four narrow sepals. Flowers open at night, white at first, then turning pink and fading away.

Fruits: A four-sided, closed pod with sharp angles. It is small, hairy, and nutlike.
