About plant names...

False shamrock is a Brazilian native, not found in the wild in North America. (It is possible that this plant [Oxalis triangularis] and Oxalis regnellii are the same plant.)

Identification: This member of the woodsorrel family is a popular house plant in North America, though it can also be grown outside in the zones shown in the range map. Plants reach 8″ (20 cm) in height, sporting deep purple, triangular leaves in groups of three, draped from tips of delicate stems like purple parasols. (Some varieties have bluer leaves, or leaves composed of purple and black.) Flowers are white to pink, with five petals, about ¾″ (1.9 cm) in diameter.
